A new beginning...

Today was our first wedding anniversary, and so we celebrated it with a 4 am alarm...getting dressed in the dark...packing last things into bags...carrying them downstairs, locking the door behind us...waiting outside for the taxi to arrive...off to the train station...Our train left the station at 5.20, carrying us away from our home of the past 3 years, but onwards to a start a new chapter with a blank page.

The flight to Montréal arrived 10 minutes earlier than scheduled which was fortunate as we needed to go through customs and immigration, having our work permits checked and approved, collect our luggage from the carousel, drop it off at the connections belt, clear security and get to the gate all within the space of an hour and twenty minutes. It was a little tight, but we (obviously) made it in the end.

Arriving in Vancouver at 6.30 pm (PST), we breezed through the airport (the benefit of already having cleared immigration), jumped in a taxi and were at our hotel by 7 pm. Great views from the balcony (a glimpse of Burrard Inlet between a couple of buildings) and sunset over the North Shore Mountains. Dinner at a nearby restaurant then a wander to our new "home" and along the waterfront before a very well earned sleep. What a way to spend one's first wedding anniversary!
